Buyer questions and selection reference
OTR and TBR are two application categories defined by the surface the vehicle works on, not two grades of the same tire. Mining and earthmoving machines work off paved roads, so they run on OTR tires.
What is the difference between OTR and TBR tires?
The two names describe where the tire is designed to work. OTR means off-the-road: built for equipment that runs on unpaved ground, such as mining trucks, loaders, excavators, cranes and scrapers. TBR means truck and bus radial: built for on-road trucks, buses and trailers. A mining truck is an off-road machine, so it takes OTR tires; the choice on a mining site is which OTR size and pattern to use, not whether to use OTR or TBR.
Do mining trucks, loaders and drill rigs use OTR tires?
Yes. Mining trucks, wide-body dump trucks, wheel loaders, excavators and drill rigs work off paved roads, so they run on OTR tires. The migrated catalogue contains 13 CHENGSHAN OTR tires for wide-body dump trucks (CST301, ET01, ET02, ET03, ET06, ET07, ET16), all-terrain cranes (ECO1), underground scrapers (ESM01) and skid-steer loaders (CST76). TBR is a separate on-road category for trucks, buses and trailers.
What decides which OTR tire fits a mining truck?
Four things decide it: the machine model and rim size, the axle position and its load, the haul road condition, and the haul distance and speed. Sharp rock and long hauls change which pattern and compound are appropriate. Send those four and the candidate sizes can be narrowed before the quotation.
How is the correct OTR tire size confirmed?
Send the machine model, rim size, axle position and site condition. Size class follows the rim and the machine; the pattern follows the road condition. Size, ply rating and availability are confirmed per inquiry, because a mining fleet often uses more than one size across trucks, loaders and support equipment.
